Hiking - Walking: Levington Wind Direction: w to nw Wind Stength: 25/35 Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: 10 Sea Temperature: Weather: sunny periods Max Speed: Distance Covered: 5 miles (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
What a waste of a windy and mild weekend in windsurfing terms !!! wasted
yesterday at our local res. never again - very gusty, short runs and cold
lumpy water :( and then again today. I took my kit to Levington to check it
out but with winds gusting to 35 mph and the high tide about to change and
the water very lumpy decided as I was the only one there to give it a miss
!!! where have all the windsurfers gone - sorry forgot most of the keen
ones have just jetted off to Tenerife !!!
So Mag and I decided to make the most of the mild and mostly sunny day and
have a walk even if it was a job to walk in the strong winds !!! We were
only going to walk past Loompit lake to the nice sandy bay beach but ended
up wal;king the last bird hide on the Suffolk Wildlife reserve at Trimley
Marshes and it felt great to be alive the bracing wind and mild, sunny
conditions with loads of birds to spot on the way. We were glad we made it
to the last hide as we saw for the first time in Suffolk a Marsh Harrier
!!!! and he gave us a great display for 20 minutes flying around the
reserve upsetting all the other birds !!! There was also hundreds of all
the usual ducks and waders sheltering from the high winds, so a great day
was had by all :) the only shame is we haven't got a nice fast safe place
to sail down this way especially in the winter when you don't want to take
too many risks !!!
We even managed to stop on the way home at a friends for tea and cake - a
top day :)
